11/8/18 HAMMER IS SOMETIMES COOL, sometimes offensive, & almost always irritating when the "monitors" stare blankly at you for too long...i assume they get these "security" people or whatever they call them , from UCLA..maybe they get extra credit from their professors to be monitors in the museum..but it is ALWAYS akward being around most of them.. most of whom don't seem to have any actual interest or knowledge in the "art" on the walls..so you can't engage them in conversation .. and many of them are supercillious.. (hey kids, I went to college too ! ( BA/BA/M.Div) ..i know what it's all about.. even though I didn't go to UCLA (although I did do some graduate stuff at the ucla medical center many years ago so I suppose I could say I am a ucla alum, but it doesn't matter.. just be REAL ! , BE HUMAN...nobody is there to steal or damage the "art" on the walls, especially not in the "modern art" galleries.. maybe in the old gallery where there is a van Gogh etc worth money you need to be a tiny bit more serious about your job, but I am sure in the decades of the hammer museum, 99.99999% of the visitors have no malice in mind, including me,..so lighten up, smile a little. Make it a nice day for everybody !

4/8/17 hammer update: I walked thru all of the exhibits this week, and there was one exhibit that contained a doll or figurine of some sort on the wall with an erect penis . I happened to be there at the same time that there were several schools visiting...looked like middle school kids on a field trip. One must question whether it is safe to bring kids to the hammer on any random day given the regular "explicit" nature of some of their exhibits. One might say kids know all about sexuality at a young age due to internet, but even if this is true, which it may not be, if an exhibit featuring a figure with an erect penis is on display and the school kids walk right past it, it may seem like the school and society sanction promiscuity, lasciviousness, etc. Sure, kids need to learn about sexuality at some point, but is this the right way?

Hello people I want to tell you that they cannot legally prevent you from taking pictures or videos at Hammer Museum events. .they can't honestly tell you it's illegal or against the rules ..well they can make the rule but if the rule contradicts the law then you don't have to abide by that rule...
so if Hammer tries to tell you they have a rule against taking pictures it is an illegal rule [except in the art section; I'm talking about presentations in the Billy wilder theatre]

... you have a total legal right to do so for the sake of Journalism [professional or citizen journalism ] or for the sake of commenting upon, etc.... the only thing you can't do legally is video-tape an entire show for personal profit to put online to make money ....but a few pictures or short video clips are completely legal !! Do not be bullied by Hammer Museum. Do not be bullied by liberal liars. Do not be lib-Bullied!
